The Sindh government has come up with a new electric vehicle (EV) taxi scheme that will be provided to the public in easy monthly instalments.

Electric Vehicles (EVs) are automobiles that travel on electricity rather than petrol or diesel. They are environmentally friendly because they don't emit harmful smoke.

The decision was taken at a meeting organised in Karachi by the Sindh Transport and Mass Transit Department. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon chaired the meeting, along with other senior officials such as Qasim Naveed Qamar, Asad Zamin, and Kamal Dayo.

Notably, they talked about how to provide clean and secure transportation for all and how drivers can gain from earning by means of these electric taxis.

One of the key suggestions was to offer EV taxis to individuals in instalments so more citizens are able to purchase them. This scheme will also benefit local drivers and minimise the consumption of fuel cars.

Another large idea that came up was to consolidate all taxi services online in Karachi under one network. These changes would facilitate improved control over fares, safety for passengers, and quality of service.

Furthermore, the Sindh government wishes to ensure that all taxis are safe and environmentally compliant. Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that green and modern transport is the hour of need.
