The Sindh Transport Department on Wednesday announced a crackdown against vehicles which are using fake fitness certificates, aiming to improve road safety and make strictness for citizens to follow the law.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon terming it as law breaking, directed to register cases against those using fake fitness certificates for their vehicles.
The minister instructed the secretary of the Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) to submit a detailed report on the action taken within three days. He also ordered the cancellation of route permits of vehicles found involved in the practice.
“Fake fitness certificates are the serious violation of laws and a big threat to public safety. The violators will not be allowed to play with public lives and properties. Bogus fitness certificates are not only breach of the law but a heinous crime,” added Memon.
The minister said: “Action will be taken against all those without discrimination, who will be found to be involved in this illegal act."
A day earlier, Karachi police announced a citywide crackdown on vehicles using fancy, fake or illegal number plates in an effort to curb attempts by motorists to evade traffic penalties.
Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi Javed Alam Odho stated the crackdown will begin on Friday, December 19, 2025, and would target vehicles displaying fake, concealed or altered registration numbers.
The transport minister said the Sindh government aims to take the transport system at safe, transparent and law abiding direction.
