Sindh authorities announced on Thursday the expansion of the e-challan system to Hyderabad, making it the province’s second major city to adopt electronic traffic enforcement after Karachi.
During a press conference held by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hyderabad Tariq Dharejo and Commissioner Hyderabad, this initiative was announced.
The system will be rolled out across all three districts of the Hyderabad division, which include Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan and Thatta, with the first phase covering high-traffic routes.
As per DIG Dharejo, 72 surveillance cameras would be installed on main roads so as to detect traffic violations automatically.
The preliminary network would monitor the Autobahn Road, Jamshoro Road, Wadhu Wah Road and parts of Qasimabad.
Officially, it was also announced that three new sets of traffic lights will be installed at critical intersections in support of smoother flows of traffic and road safety.
This initiative is part of the ongoing change in Sindh toward technology-driven policing and modern traffic management.
According to authorities, the system will help reduce violations, increase compliance, and ensure greater transparency in enforcement across Hyderabad's busiest areas.
