Elon Musk-owned satellite internet service, Starlink, is reportedly back online shortly after it went down earlier on Monday, affecting thousands of users worldwide.
As reported by internet services tracker Downdetector.com, the Starlink outage affected over 43,000 users in the US at its peak. However, as of 1:15am ET (0515 GMT), the number of complaints regarding Starlink outage dropped below 1,000 after the service stabilised.
Shortly after the Starlink outage took place, the internet provider acknowledged the problem, stating: "Starlink is currently experiencing a service outage. Our team is investigating." This message has since been removed, Reuters reported.
The satellite internet outage also affected Ukraine's entire frontline of war with Russia, starting at 07:28 local time (0428 GMT). Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's drone forces, outlined the disruption on the Telegram messaging app and mentioned that service started to restore around half an hour later.
Musk's Starlink is said to be playing a critical role for Ukraine's military operations, with over 50,000 terminals currently in use for battlefield communications and drone activities.
Operated by SpaceX, Starlink runs on a network of low-Earth orbit satellites, which makes it invaluable in remote areas and conflict zones.
