T-Mobile customers are likely to be affected as Google is reportedly altering its payment options on Google Play.
However, this hasn’t come as a surprise as previously in 2022, Verizon and AT&T also ended support for paying through a carrier.
Google shared an updated list of accepted payment methods on its support page which doesn’t show T-Mobile users having a carrier billing option.

Google stated: “T-Mobile Phone billing won’t be accepted as a payment method for new Google Play Store subscription sign-ups. If you already have a Play subscription with T-Mobile Phone billing, to avoid any interruptions, update your payment method before September 2024.”
T-Mobile introduced Direct Carrier Billing for Android users in 2009, allowing its subscribers to charge their digital purchases to their T-Mobile accounts. It enabled users to pay for apps, books, and games on Google Play, without using a credit card.
Now, from August 29, this method won’t be effective for T-Mobile users and those having it as the default payment method are supposed to update their payment information to avoid any disruption in recurring payments.
An official announcement is yet to come from T-Mobile, given the expected deadline is not far off and users should be notified in advance to set up an alternate payment method.
