T-Mobile is now shutting down the older 2G networks, however, it was likely to abolish the 2G network back in April but it was delayed for some obscure reasons. So all the T-Mobile users who adhered to 2G phones would have to upgrade, as the 2G network would be retried at the start of September.

When will T-Mobile shut down its 2G network?

This news came under development when some keen-eyed Redditors noticed the Network Evolution page. According to the page, T-Mobile’s 2G network “is expected to change starting as early as September 1, 2024.”

Additionally, T-Mobile’s 2G coverage has been constricted during July and August. Currently, the telecom is set to abolish all the older networks all over the countries where it operates, following the shut-down of its 3G network back on July 1st, 2022.

AT&T and Verizon have already shut-down their 2G network

Previously, some of the most dominating telecom operators such as American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T and Verizon) shut down back their 2G networks, AT&T did it back in 2017 followed by Verizon which pulled the plug on its 2G network back in 2020, which is soon to be joined by T-Mobile by the start of next month.

Users would have to switch to 4G or 5G network-supported phones once the 2G network would be adequately shut down.
