Teknofest Pakistan: Presenting tech innovations, sponsorships for startups

Teknofest Pakistan dedicates 100 stalls to tech projects in robotics, mobile applications, programming and more

In a remarkable development in the digital realm of Pakistan, Teknofest Pakistan, a two-day tech event, concluded on Tuesday at the Expo Centre in Karachi.

Organised by Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Karachi, the event served as a platform for spectacular displays and competitions on a diversity of technological innovations.

The tech extravaganza featured around 200 stalls, out of which 100 were dedicated to innovative tech projects in robotics, mobile applications, programming and the like.

My Startup My Project at Teknofest Pakistan

An exclusive segment dubbed "My Startup My Project" was held for aspirants to present innovative projects and startups, and secure sponsorships to advance their projects.

With a total of Rs10 million allocated prize money, each winning tech startup would receive Rs1m.

Moreover, there were 40 competitions held across seven varying categories listed below: 

  1. Cyber-Security
  2. Development and Programming
  3. Data Science & Artificial Intelligence
  4. Robotics and Electronics
  5. Engineering Competitions
  6. Graphic Animations
  7. Business and Finance

Xeven Solutions CEO Irfan Malik said: "Those associated with IT cannot be held back by the government... Events like Teknofest are crucial for Pakistan's progress, as they foster innovation and entrepreneurship."

"Relying on the government for technology is impossible... Universities must impart practical skills to prepare students for the industry," said FIA ex-director Ammar Jafri.

The event also conducted 12 informative sessions to familiarise attendees with expert insights on emerging technological innovations, and industry trends.

Topics of discussion included AI, robotics, fintech, animation, cyber security, entrepreneurship, and freelancing.

The most significant highlight of the event was a job fair on the sidelines of tech bouts and tech exhibitions, wherein 30 reputable companies were invited to offer on-the-spot interviews and job opportunities.
