Threads has overtaken Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter) in terms of daily active users on mobile platforms. However, X continues to lead in web-based engagement.

Threads has frequently grown its mobile user base on both iOS and Android devices over recent months, by introducing numerous features that attracted the users towards it. The new features include:

  • Communities based on shared interests
  • Enhanced filtering tools
  • Direct messaging (DM)
  • Support for long-form content
  • Ephemeral posts
  • Testing in-message games

These advancements to the Instagram's-owned microblogging site have encouraged more users to make the platform a part of their daily routine on mobile devices.

Meta has also publishing its own engagement reports of Threads. Earlier in August 2025, the company said Threads had crossed 400 million monthly users, while later TechCrunch reported Meta shared a figure of 150 million daily active users in October 2025.
