Toyota has launched its latest electric SUV, the bZ5, in China, aimed at offering a high-tech EV experience at an affordable price.
The bZ5 is based on Toyota’s e-TNGA platform and powered by a 200 kW front motor, producing 330 Nm of torque. It comes with two battery options. The 65.28 kWh battery offers up to 550 km of range, while the larger 73.984 kWh battery gives up to 630 km, based on China’s CLTC standards.
Fast charging is supported up to 90 kW, charging from 30% to 80% in just 27 minutes. These features make the bZ5 a strong EV contender in its class.
One of the biggest highlights is Toyota’s partnership with BYD, which provides the Blade Battery. This lithium iron phosphate battery is known for better safety, longer life, and quicker charging. The bZ5 comes in four variants: 550 Joy, 550 Pro, 550 Pro Smart Edition, and 630 Pro.
The design is sleek and futuristic, with sharp LED lights, flush door handles, and a wide digital dashboard inside.
Key features include a 15.6-inch touchscreen, voice commands, gesture controls, and Toyota’s advanced Pilot driving system in top models. Buyers also get luxuries like a JBL sound system, panoramic roof, and relaxing Nap Mode seats.
