Purchasing cars in Pakistan is gradually becoming more expensive than ever, particularly for those who are not taxpayers, as authorities are tightening the noose to boost revenue. The cost of purchasing a new vehicle has increased due to a tax policy that calculates withholding tax (WHT) based on engine capacity.

Under the updated system, non-filers will now pay more than filers as the officials revised the previous engine-size-based system.

The price of the Toyota Yaris GLI in Pakistan is Rs4,479,000 and falls under the 1301-1600cc category. The tax for filers is Rs89,580 (2% of the value), while for non-filers, it is Rs268,740 (6% of the value).
