Given rumours suggesting the implementation of a ban on Pakistani nationals seeking visas for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the country has clarified that there is no such ban.

The development was brought to light by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) via a notification issued to the National Assembly on Wednesday.

New policy for UAE visa

The UAE Embassy notified that a new five-year visa policy has been introduced by their Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, said the ministry.

As per the new policy, applicants willing to fetch UAE visas are required to provide round-trip tickets, hotel bookings, proof of property ownership (if applicable), and a down payment of AED 3,000.

This increased extent of scrutiny and restrictions on Pakistani applicants was attributed to several reasons, including the submission of fabricated degrees, diplomas, and fraudulent employment contracts, outlined the foreign affairs ministry.

In addition to submitting fake degrees and employment contracts, other notable factors that triggered the implementation of stringent visa restrictions on Pakistanis revolve around overstaying visas and engaging in political and criminal activities.
