WhatsApp brings multi-account support and chat transfer to iOS

WhatsApp has officially announced the launch of new features to improve compatibility between Android and iOS, as users will get multi-account support and easy chat transfer.

Meta said that iPhone users can now operate two separate WhatsApp accounts simultaneously on a single device. The new multi-account feature lets WhatsApp iOS users manage multiple accounts, as users can switch between their accounts by tapping on their profile image, similar to how profile switching works on Instagram.

How to use multi-account feature on WhatsApp?

  1. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone, and go to the 'Settings' option within the app interface.
  2. Tap the '+' icon next to the user’s name and select the 'Add Account' option.
  3. Tap 'Agree and 'Continue' to accept the platform’s policies.
  4. Select the country and enter the phone number associated with the new account.
  5. Tap 'Continue' to get a verification code,
  6. Once you have received the verification code, then enter it where required.
  7. Enter a name for the second profile and proceed by tapping 'Next'.
  8. Add a profile photo and complete the remaining details to finalize the setup.

With this WhatsApp update, iOS users will now be relaxed, as this feature will end the requirement of two different devices. It is important to note that if you need to switch between accounts, simply access the Settings menu and select the alternate profile.

iPhone users can now easily move their chat history from iOS to Android, in addition to within the same platform. "Changing phones shouldn't be complicated," said WhatsApp, adding that now, with just a couple taps, your conversations, photos, and videos easily come with you.
