Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Monday released a guide video for the recovery of a hacked WhatsApp account without panicking at the moment.
PTA, in a released guide video, stated: "The incidents of WhatsApp hacking have increased to an alarming extent in Pakistan. Every day, common citizens, elderly people, women, students, and people associated with business are being deprived of their WhatsApp accounts."
"If your WhatsApp is hacked, instead of panicking, take the right action. Your WhatsApp account can be reactivated with a few simple steps," said the authority, adding that this step-by-step guide will provide you ways to recover your hacked WhatsApp account.
How does your WhatsApp account get hacked?
PTA stated: "Methods commonly used for WhatsApp hacking in Pakistan are that you receive a message on Meta-owned instant messaging platform or in the name of someone you know, asking you to verify your account or send this six-digit code. Often this message comes from the number of a friend or any relative whose account has already been hacked."
Sharing the verification code of six-digits leds your account to be hacked by hacker and he gets complete control of your WhatsApp.
It is important to note that you don't need to share your WhatsApp verification code with anyone, neither WhatsApp itself ask for it nor any institution or friend.
How to recover hacked WhatsApp account?
If your WhatsApp account has been hacked, do not panic. Follow these steps to recover your hacked account.
- Delete WhatsApp from your smartphone and reinstall it.
- Also, inform your friends and family through some other number that if any suspicious message comes in your name, then do not believe it at all.
- Enter the same mobile number, which was already registered on WhatsApp. Meta-owned instant messaging platform will send you a six-digit verification code via SMS or call.
- Then, once you receive the code, enter it.
However, if you don't receive verification code or a PIN has been set by the hacker, and you are unable to login. WhatsApp gives you the option to login after seven days on the same mobile number without the requirement of PIN.
During this time, keep your SIM with you. Do not let the number get closed or suspended. Do not install WhatsApp again and again, which can block your login.
