On the sidelines of a deluge of new features and performance boosts, the latest Windows 11 update has accompanied a bug that occupies 8.63GB of device storage which is irretrievable.
Bug in new Windows 11 2024 update
After the successful installation of Windows 11, PCs are displaying 8.63GB of files in the "Windows Update Cleanup" section of Temporary files.
Although the operating system offers an option to do away with those unwanted files, attempting to do so is of no use.
It's a common encounter to see a considerable bunch of files, it's also normal to have an option in sight to delete those files. But the case of Windows 11 2024 update seems to be an exception.
The distressing development has triggered PC geeks to claim whether the 8.63GB of space it taken by a bug or is a result of some unannounced, unidentified installation of a massive internal update.
But staying on the factual side offers a simple indication that there must have been an amendment to Windows' tradition of letting users opt out of useless files.
Whatever the case, it's frustrating to have Storage Sense showing 8.63GB of removable files that can not be deleted.
