Fortnite, the world-famous free-to-play battle royale game, is about to get more accessible for players as Microsoft expands its PC ecosystem: starting on November 18, the game will officially become playable on the Xbox app for PC.
This new option will give gamers a different avenue instead of relying completely on the Epic Games Launcher.
The update will also smooth out things for gamers who are already using Microsoft's gaming services and would like seamless access to Fortnite PC, Fortnite crossplay, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
To date, PC-based users have to access Fortnite through the Epic Games Launcher. Upon its arrival on the Xbox app, players can manage downloads, updates, and gameplay from the very same hub they use for other Xbox titles.
According to Microsoft, the move is part of its wider push to make cross-platform gaming easier for users all over the world, also including the fast-growing base of PC players in Pakistan.
The game is also joining the Xbox Play Anywhere programme, which means player progress, purchases and unlocked items will automatically carry across Xbox consoles, PC and supported handheld devices.
Microsoft says this will make it easier for gamers to play on devices such as the Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X, giving Pakistani players more flexibility during travel or power outages, both common scenarios for local gamers.
Another major update is expected to arrive on November 18; the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will receive Fortnite Crew as an added perk. The subscription includes a monthly skin, 1,000 V-Bucks, and access to all active battle passes.
