Are you an avid gamer who's desperate to experience Switch's charming gameplay on an iPhone? If so, then brace for making the most of this immersive adventure as iPhone users in the EU can now install console emulators like Dolphin (GameCube/Wii) and meloNX (Nintendo Switch), without having a Mac or PC.

This tempting offer is made possible with the launch of AltStore Classic, a powerful alternative app store developed on the wave of digital freedom under the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA).

Unlike previous versions, which required users to connect to a desktop to sideload apps, AltStore Classic allows full on-device installation of non-notarised and JIT (Just-In-Time) compiled apps.

It’s a notable development in favour of iOS users looking to explore emulators and other tools without encountering technical hiccups.

AltStore Classic was built upon the original AltStore PAL, which was launched in 2019. This upgrade marks the store’s first anniversary with broader support for emulation, simplifying the experience for both gamers and developers.

In addition to AltStore Classic, the developers have also released StikDebug, another complimentary tool that streamlines JIT compilation directly on iPhones.

While these changes are currently limited to the EU due to regional regulations, similar functionality is expected to reach users in other regions, given rising demand.
