Amazon's live-action Yakuza series: Like a Dragon

Yakuza, the popular video game is getting a live-action makeover very soon. As part of the Amazon’s Comic-Con presentation, the first look of the show, Like a Dragon: Yakuza, was finally revealed, which is centred on the first Yakuza: Kazuma Kiryu series.

The Yakuza series includes a line of action-adventure games that follow around the protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, an ex-yakuza who gets himself trapped in a world of crime and corruption.

The series, developed by Sega, is known for its intense characters, attention-grabbing storylines, and modern Japanese setting.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza's first look and casting

Amazon revealed that the first look at Like a Dragon: Yakuza at Comic-Con, will showcase Ryoma Takeuchi as Kazuma Kiryu and Kento Kaku as Akira Nishikiyama.

The series is directed by Masaharu Take and that would allow its players to explore the dramatic stories of these intense characters in a way that games in the past were unable to explored before.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza release date and availability

Like a Dragon: Yakuza will be starting to stream on Prime Video on October 24th, with its first three episodes available immediately after the series release.

Fans can expect an adventurous gameplay as the series takes them into a world of modern Japan and the Yakuza.

Yakuza joins a growing list of gaming adaptations for TV, including The Last of Us on HBO, Peacock's Twisted Metal, and Amazon's own live-action take on Fallout.

Sega, the publisher of Yakuza, has already seen success expanding Sonic the Hedgehog with movies and a spinoff series.
