NetherRealm announced the latest batch of content would be unveiled for Mortal Kombat 1 at San Diego Comic-Con, involving a “continuing story” and additional fighters.

Mortal Kombat 1 fans are expecting an upgrade on the future of NetherRealm’s game, which didn’t sport any reveal or panel at EVO 2024 on July 21.

Almost a year after its initial launch, Mortal Kombat 1 game regularly includes new content for players to keep on enjoying this popular fighting game.

The latest upgrade for Mortal Kombat 1 game 2024 introduced Takeda Takahashi as a new DLC fighter and Ferra as a new Kameo fighter, alongside a batch of bug fixes and quality-of-life enhancements.

While the addition of new fighters is appreciated by the community, fans are eagerly waiting for NetherRealm Studios to announce their plans for the second year of the game, which will celebrate its first anniversary on September 14.

NetherRealm's Vice President and Creative Director Ed Boon confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 has unveiled an additional storyline, new fighters and “big surprises” during its Comic-Con panel.

Earlier, Ed Boon mentioned that NetherRealm was preparing to continue the story of the Mortal Kombat 1 game, just like it did with Mortal Kombat 11’s Aftermath DLC.

During this Comic-Con panel, players can also expect an official announcement about Mortal Kombat’s tag team mode, which is purportedly cancelled for the Mortal Kombat 1 game.

Moreover, rumours are being swirled regarding the future of Mortal Kombat 1, NetherRealm, which is expected to bring some intriguing news in the upcoming year.
