Android users have not always been satisfied with fingerprint scanners when it comes to knowingly adding or removing a set-up fingerprint, but with the upcoming Android 16 getting manifold closer to unshakable privacy, it appears that this doubt will subside for good, as the latest Android update is going to get a much-needed feature.
It has emerged that the ability to rename fingerprints after setting them up is coming to Android 16. The feature has been in Samsung's One UI for several years.
The remarkable development came to light with Google's recently released first preview of the Android 16 QPR1 beta. The new feature is located in the security settings.
The new feature allowing users to check enrolled fingerprints was first reported by Android Authority. Users can view all the saved fingerprints on their device by simply tapping.
Prior to the rollout of this fruitful property, users were only able to delete or add fingerprints, but now they can recheck and rename them to easily identify whose fingerprints should stay or be removed.
While this option might seem a trivial one to many users, it equips Android with the right tool to catch up with rival smartphone operating systems.
Even without the integration of fingerprint personalisation, Google has a slew of improvements with the impending Android 16 release, especially for Pixel phone owners.
