Apple is making big waves in the world of gaming. Reportedly, the company plans to reveal a new gaming section during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, happening June 5 to June 10, four days after the expected launch of Nintendo Switch 2.

However, this section will add convenience for accessing the gaming section of the iOS App Store and promote Apple Arcade, Apple's gaming subscription service. The section may be a replacement for Game Centre, Apple's previous social gaming experience offering (making it the social gaming experience after 2016).

Apple rumoured to launch new gaming hub

The new gaming section will help improve users' experience in discovering qnd playing games on their iPhones or iPads.

Apple's Game Centre, first launched in 2010, allowed players to keep score and connect with friends, and after a few years, Game Centre faded away and became less visible to users in settings.

Interestingly, Apple seems to be making that very community-original aspect of mobile gaming visible again, but with greater emphasis on user experience.

Adding to this shift, Apple has quietly made its first game studio acquisition. Canadian developer RAC7, known for the hit title Sneaky Sasquatch, is now part of the Apple family.

Sneaky Sasquatch is a fun, quirky game where players control a clever raccoon sneaking through campsites, which became a favourite on Apple Arcade.

According to Digital Trends, a company spokesperson stated that the move doesn’t signal a massive change in direction but reflects a chance to grow the Apple Arcade game library.
