In a major shift in the technology sector, a popular Apple analyst has disclosed key details regarding the company's first-ever foldable iPhone and its launch timeline.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Foxconn, an Apple supplier, will begin to develop a foldable iPhone later this year.
Kuo noted that the upcoming smartphone will likely be released in 2026 with a hefty price tag.
Foldable iPhone's specifications (expected)
According to reports, the foldable iPhone will feature a Samsung-made display. The device is anticipated to have a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner screen when unfolded.
However, other component specifications, including the hinge, are yet to be finalised.

Apple might be planning to manufacture between 15 and 20 million units to meet projected demand across the device's lifecycle.
Foldable iPhone shipments are anticipated to scale significantly in 2027 and 2028, suggesting that Apple sees long-term potential in the foldable device category. The device's base model might have a metal hinge and will cost around $2,300.
Even though the foldable iPhone rumours are becoming more widespread, it's important to note that plans might still change before the handset is launched.
Apple, which is renowned for its covert approach to product development, has not yet formally acknowledged the existence of a foldable iPhone.
