The Call of Duty franchise, one of the biggest first-person shooter series in gaming, could finally be coming to the Nintendo Switch, according to a new industry rumour.
For years, Call of Duty has dominated platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, but Nintendo players have largely been left out. Several fresh claims suggest that the long wait for Call of Duty on Switch may soon be over.
The context in which the leaks came about would date back to 2023, when Microsoft and Nintendo reached a 10-year commitment to get Call of Duty gameplay onto Nintendo's platforms. Although this was announced, there have been no Call of Duty titles released for the Switch yet.
One of the major reasons was hardware issues due to the size of the files and the demanding performance of the current Call of Duty series. However, the coming of the more powerful Switch 2 has heightened anticipation for a release.
According to GamesRadar, journalist Jez Corden says that the first Call of Duty title for the Nintendo Switch console is "pretty much finished" and might release within the next few months, although he later admits that a release date of 2026 is a probability.
Reportedly, it does not specify whether it would be a completely new Call of Duty title or perhaps an import of an existing Call of Duty game.
Speculation by those who closely follow the gaming world says perhaps Call of Duty Black Ops 6 or Call of Duty Black Ops 7 would be a likely possibility.
It is also unclear whether it will come out for both the initial Switch model and the Switch 2 at this time, as it may only be available to the Switch due to processing requirements.
