The highly anticipated release of Street Fighter 6's next DLC fighter, Ed, is just around the corner, set to unleash his Psycho-powered boxing skills onto eager players worldwide next week. While anticipation mounts for Ed's debut, fans are already clamouring for details about the subsequent DLC character, the iconic Akuma.
During the recent Fan Fest 2024 live broadcast, IGN seized the opportunity to inquire about Akuma's impending arrival. Street Fighter 6 Director Takayuki Nakayama and Producer Shuhei Matsumoto provided scant details on the legendary fighter, hinting at his impressive appearance and dynamic abilities.
Despite the limited information, Matsumoto's mention of "carefully planning out" Akuma's reveal sparked curiosity among fans, particularly in light of Ed's somewhat unexpected unveiling.

Ed's introduction into the Street Fighter 6 universe has been a hot topic, with discussions revolving around the timing and manner of his gameplay reveal.
Some were surprised by the seemingly impromptu announcement, especially considering the imminent Capcom Cup X, leading to speculation about a potential dual reveal with Akuma at the event.
However, Capcom quashed such hopes by confirming no major Street Fighter 6 announcements at the tournament.
Given Akuma's stature and fan fervour surrounding his inclusion, hopes are high for a more impactful unveiling than Ed's. As Ed prepares to enter the fray on February 27, fans eagerly await Akuma's arrival, slated for release sometime this spring.
