Globally acclaimed artificial intelligence (AI) giant, OpenAI, has rolled out ChatGPT Pulse, a new feature designed to serve as a proactive virtual assistant by creating personalised reports for users.

ChatGPT Pulse deviates OpenAI from its typical focus on providing a mere chatbot-like experience and begins adopting that of a virtual assistant.

This feature takes content from users' emails and calendar events, and utilises ChatGPT’s Connectors and memory to deliver relevant and accurate summaries.

Each Pulse report comprises AI-generated visuals, clickable summaries, and references, mirroring ChatGPT search function. What makes this interesting is that users can easily interact with these reports, ask follow-up questions, and request the latest updates.

Another notable property is its design that avoids the endless scrolling typical of social media. Once Pulse delivers its summary, it concludes with a simple message: “Great, that’s it for today.”

At the moment, ChatGPT Pulse is available exclusively to Pro subscribers for $200 per month. Each morning, users receive 5-10 tailored "cards" that cover schedules, travel plans, and personalised content like dietary recommendations.

In future, Pulse’s capabilities are expected to be further enhanced, allowing it to handle tasks like restaurant bookings. It's worth noting that OpenAI has plans to expand Pulse to Plus subscribers.

ChatGPT Pulse aims to position ChatGPT as a direct competition to services like Apple News while balancing AI-driven personalisation.
