While Pakistan continued to suffer from economic instability and political turmoils, sales of electric motorbikes in Pakistan increased in 2024 and are likely to grow substantially in 2025 as well.

According to The Express Tribune, around 50,000 electric two-wheelers were manufactured and sold in financial year 2023-24, up 35,000 units during the financial year 2022-23.

The anticipated rise in E-bike sales hinges on the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) policy facilitating all key players in the industry, including investors, assemblers, parts vendors and customers, and plugs lacunae.

If the impending NEV policy supports all the aforementioned stakeholders, the sale of electric bikes in Pakistan could register a notable surge while simplifying their registration process and maintaining the quality.

Crucial to their sustainability in the country, the production of electric motorbike components on the domestic level is also being considered by those in authority.

Finalisation of the manufacturing of a few well-acclaimed E-bike models is also awaiting the local production of parts.

The publication noted that the Engineering Development Board (EDB) ought to get rid of the toiling, six-month-long approval process for the latest EV models and follow a simplified method.

As China brings a deluge of high-tech, comfortable and affordable electric bikes, electrified two-wheeler users in the country are now able to evaluate and choose models best tailored to their requirements and budgets.
