The world of Android gaming is about to get a whole lot more exciting. Epic Games is planning to bring its free games program from desktop to mobile later this year.
Epic Games Store is an all-digital storefront that only publishes handpicked titles, including exclusives. For the desktop version, its free games program has been giving users a new free game every two weeks.
Epic Games Store expanding to mobile
The free games program will be available in Q4 of this year for mobiles, announced Steve Allison, Epic Games general manager Steve Allison at the Unreal Fest in Seattle.
This means that you can play high-ranking games on Android without paying anything. It will be available through an Epic Games Store app recently launched on Android, which launched on Android in August.
Epic Games Store program features
Among other proposed features in this roster:
- In-game chat and cross-platform play.
- Social and party features throughout the store.
- Implementation of payment solutions for third-party apps.

Epic is also opening the store up to third-party developers, beginning with Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition. That will go a long way to expand the catalogue in the store and will add many more variations to be made available to its users.
Self-publishing tools are expected to debut in early 2025, where developers can publish their applications and games themselves in a non-epic direct-level engagement.
Epic's free games benefits for users
The free games program on mobile will:
- Provide access to top-tier games without cost.
- Offer older or non-AAA titles with dated graphics, making them playable on less powerful hardware.
- Expand gaming options beyond the Google Play Store.
