Files by Google, a popular Android app, has recently undergone a significant change in its beta version. The app aims to help the users manage their device storage and files and has now announced a new carousel view in the “Recents” section.
However, the latest beta version (1.4374.x) of the Files by Google app has replaced the traditional 2×2 grid format with a new carousel of rectangular cards in the "Recents" section.
This new view is one of the most effective ways for the users to select multiple files at once and essentially makes it easier for the user to navigate them. Each card in the carousel displays a preview of the file, along with its name, extension, and a three-dot menu for sharing, deleting, or starring the files.
The carousel view allows users to enter into any particular file without tapping into any folder. This is really close to the carousel on the Google Photos app's memories page. The user could also tap on a card in order to open the file in full-screen view.
How to access carousel view
To access the carousel view, users need an update to the latest beta version of the Files by Google app. After updating, users can see the new carousel view in the "Recents" section. Then, tapping on "See all" will show all folders.
