Peshawar Police have taken a major step towards reducing motorcycle-related street crimes by requiring registration for all bike riders.

In order to make this easier, they have released a special mobile application called Safe Ride on Friday, which allows users to digitally register their information.

According to Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mian Saeed, riders who are unable to use the app can finish the procedure physically at the closest police station.

Riders will get a QR code sticker to put on their motorcycles after registering, which enables authorities to swiftly confirm their identity.

By including all registered motorcycles in the Peshawar Police central database, the method seeks to discourage illegal behaviour.

This campaign comes after several bike-related robberies and snatchings, in which police have already detained ten people.

According to officials, the new system would maintain the livelihoods of lawful riders, protect citizens, and provide law enforcement with better tools for tracking and identifying offenders.

In response to crimes conducted under the pretence of ride-hailing services, Mansehra Police have initiated a district-wide registration campaign for bike riders of ride-hailing apps.

Every rider will be assigned a distinct registration number, and the appropriate police station will record all of their credentials.

To assist in reducing crime and upholding law and order, authorities in both districts have asked the public to encourage riders to complete the required registration.
