Meta-owned Threads app on Monday expanded the number of topics available through its newer communities feature, as this expansion might push users to use communities less on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter).
With the latest update, Instagram's Threads now has more than 200 communities, with additions that include team-specific spaces like Lakers Threads, Knicks Threads, and Spurs Threads.
On the other hand, the company is testing flairs within the community, which is very common on Reddit. This feature allows you to add a personalised label underneath your username. For instance, in the NBA community, you can show off which team you support using a flair, or in the books community, you can indicate if you’re an author.
In addition, Threads is testing a 'Champion' badge to reward members who are highly engaged in a community. It is giving badges to only select people who are highly followed in the community and who converse actively.
Threads is continuously focusing on new updates, bringing improvements to its platform to provide users with a better experience. It competes with Elon Musk's X and startups like Bluesky.
Threads has also been focusing on engaging and keeping users with features like DMs, Group chats, ephemeral posts, and other additions.
