The Punjab Local Government & Community Development Department (LG&CD), in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), on Friday launched the Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) app, which gives users access to different services aimed at providing convenience to citizens.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Minister for LG&CD Zeeshan Rafiq said that CRMS mobile app will significantly improve the birth, death, marriage and divorce registration system. Birth registration will enable access to basic facilities such as identification, education, vaccination and social protection.

The minister added that citizens can now complete these registrations from the comfort of their homes through the e-registration facility. Once linked with Nadra’s data system, the information will automatically be updated in their records.

"The initiative marks an important milestone in Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz’s Digital Punjab Vision, and that the province is progressing on par with developed nations through the use of modern technology.

“With this online system, we will be eliminating any delay and discrepancies on the documents on behalf of millions of people," added Rafiq.

Earlier, the CRMS app was launched in Sindh, where Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah said that residents will now be able to complete civil registration services from home without standing in long queues, facing delays, paperwork, or unnecessary visits.

The Sindh CM added that the CRMS mobile app will be expanded to a digital platform for vehicle registration and arms licenses.
