Google has stepped into the field of artificial intelligence (AI), as it has been integrated into every product of the American tech giant now such as Workspace apps. Google Meet is substantially the best video-conferencing app introducing AI-generated background pictures back in 2024 as a Workspace Labs project.

However, Alphabet-owned Google released this feature over a year ago and it’s only available on the web variant of Meet yet, which is expected to change soon.

Google is reportedly planning to bring AI-generated backgrounds to the Android variant of Google Meet.

Recently, Android Authority spotted the latest option of "Generate a background" inside the Meet’s Effects menu, browsing through the 2024.10.06.682972205 variant of the Gmail app.

AI-generated backgrounds will take a while to roll out

Further reports suggested the option is currently in the early stage of development on Meet for Android. Additionally, there is no official news regarding whether Google will introduce this Gemini-powered feature to the iOS/iPadOS variant of Meet or not.

Once it is rolled out, to use it all the eligible users will click the Generate background button, available in the Effects menu and enter a prompt to get their desired results. Users will also have several options to select from styles such as Photography, Sci-Fi, and more.
