Google is testing a new Circle to Search (CTS) animation for some Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra devices. CTS is a smart feature allowing users to conduct Google research on things by just circling, scribbling, or tapping on their screens.
It was introduced on Samsung and Google Pixel devices to make web searching faster and easier. Currently, some users with Google app version 16.5.33.ve.arm64 have noticed a different visual effect when using the feature.
Circle to Search new animation
The new animation feature spotted by the Android Authority reveals that instead of the usual shimmering wave animation, a blue light spreads across the screen, followed by colourful bouncing balls. Attempts to activate it on other devices have not been successful, which suggests Google is running an A/B test.
The bouncing ball animation adds a more fun and energetic feel to the feature. The developer has not officially confirmed whether this design will roll out to all users. Many UI experiments get tested but never make it to the final version.
Google often tweaks its UI elements to keep the experience fresh and modern. Android 14 introduced dynamic animations, and Google Assistant has gone through several design updates. These small details influence how users interact with their devices, making features feel more engaging and intuitive.
What was new in Circle to Search with previous update
Last month, some users noticed new entry and exit animations being tested by Google. Another update introduced a stronger vibration when activating CTS, but not all users liked it. Such small changes show that Google is fine-tuning the experience based on user feedback.
