Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has ordered the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) classes for students from grade six in all government schools across the province.

He directed the concerned departments to take immediate action and ensure the provision of all necessary resources on an emergency basis.

A meeting of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, chaired by the chief minister, was attended by senior officials and Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Arshad Ayub.

The chief minister said that AI now sits at the centre of modern governance, healthcare, education, and economic systems. He added that introducing AI education would equip children and young people with the skills needed to meet future challenges with confidence.

To address teacher shortages in the merged districts, Afridi also instructed to roll out new teaching posts.

He warned that government employees who neglect their duties would face strict action, including removal from their positions.

The chief minister further directed that all textbooks for government schools be printed exclusively at the Government Press and ordered an inquiry into the tendering process for stationery procurement and textbook printing carried out by subordinate bodies.

He also emphasised that all teacher-related administrative processes, including postings, transfers, leave encashment, promotions, and the disbursement of student scholarships, must be fully digitised.

This initiative aims to strengthen school management, modernise the education system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and ensure early integration of AI learning in the classroom.
