
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT) Shaza Fatima Khawaja decided to expedite the hiring process for a consultant to assist in the Starlink internet regulation across Pakistan, during a meeting held on January 6.
The MoITT meeting, chaired by Khawaja, was held to evaluate the progress on the licensing and regulatory frameworks for Starlink and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.
The meeting facilitated a discussion focused on accelerating the process of establishing a resilient regulatory framework for LEO satellites, enhancing connectivity, and promoting technological advancements.
The Minister stressed the need of aligning Pakistan's policies with global standards to leverage satellite technology to reshape the country's future.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of IT, Ministry of IT & Telecom, Zarrar Hashim Khan, Special Secretary, Ministry of IT & Telecom, Azfar Manzoor, Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board Chairman, Amer Sarfaraz, SUPARCO Chairman, Muhammad Yousuf Khan, PTA Chairman Maj. Gen (R) Hafeez ur Rehman, and IT & Telecom Ministry’s Jehanzeb Rahim.
