In an effort to make electric transport more affordable while pushing for its measures to normalise eco-friendly mobility, the federal government has launched a new scheme to provide 40,000 electric motorcycles (e-bikes) and 1,000 electric rickshaws as part of the New Energy Vehicle Policy 2025-30.

Introduced to offer subsidies of up to Rs 400,000, the government's e-bike scheme is open to everyone, and interested individuals can apply online at www.pave.gov.pk.
Interested ones should keep in mind that the registration deadline for the latest e-bike subsidy is September 30, 2025.

Here's a breakdown of the subsidies federal govt is offering on bikes and rikshaws:
- E-bikes: Rs 80,000 subsidy each
- Electric cargo rickshaws: Rs 400,000 subsidy each
- Financing: A loan facility of up to Rs 200,000 for two years on electric bikes
It's worth noting that special quotas are also reserved for women, students, and workers. Applications will be selected through a computerised ballot on October 1, 2025.
The subsidy is part of the government's comprehensive energy transition plan which is anticipated to save Rs290 billion annually on imported fuel while reducing environmental pollution.
