After the disaster that New Gundam Breaker was, the prospect of a new numbered entry in the franchise brings little hope, and honestly, it's likely to be just as abysmal.

Let's rewind a bit: the first trio of Gundam Breaker games was a collaborative effort between ilinx and Craft & Meister, with middleware support from Silicon Studio. However, the landscape shifted dramatically with the New Gundam Breaker.

Suddenly, ilinx and Silicon Studio were out of the picture, leaving Craft & Meister to tackle the project solo, armed only with Unreal Engine and Bandai Namco's watchful eye.

Initially, I dared to hope. Unreal Engine is renowned for its versatility and stability, so the transition seemed promising. But alas, New Gundam Breaker was nothing short of a catastrophe.

Fast forward to Gundam Breaker 4, and we're treading the same dismal path. Craft & Meister is back at the helm, once again employing Unreal Engine. Yet, glancing at the screenshots and trailer (which you can suffer from below) reveals a regression in graphics, a step back from even Gundam Breaker 3, a relic from 2016.

What's baffling is how Gundam Evolution and SD Gundam Battle Alliance, both Unreal Engine-powered, managed to dazzle visually. So, why does Gundam Breaker 4 look like it's stuck in a time warp?

Gundam Breaker 4 release date

Scheduled for release later this year on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Gundam Breaker 4 shoulders the weight of high expectations. But from what I've seen and heard, it's shaping up to be another colossal disappointment.
