What's new in Huawei HarmonyOS NEXT?
Huawei has been working on the HarmonyOS NEXT for a couple of years which is similar to the current HarmonyOS.
However, this new update comes as a part of the company’s software ambitions as it aims to abandon the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and support for Android applications replacing it with in-house code and apps.
The tech giant released the developer version of HarmonyOS NEXT in 2023; however, the public beta activity was released last week, on October 8.
HarmonyOS NEXT uses a self-developed microkernel operating system. Based on the latest reports, HarmonyOS NEXT can handle over 10,000 apps and services.
It also supports apps via the Ark Compiler with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) and promises a unified architecture between HarmonyOS Next devices and the cloud.
That said, Huawei is yet to reveal the HarmonyOS NEXT roadmap for eligible devices, including smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and smart home products.
