Pakistan’s car export industry is slowly gaining momentum, with another lot of locally assembled Honda City cars being shipped to Japan this week.

Company officials said that Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan has exported 38 units of Honda City 1.2L to Japan. It is the second consignment of cars exported by the automaker to Japan. In April 2025, it had shipped 40 units in the first export batch; it was a welcome stage for the auto industry in Pakistan and marked another milestone.

Consistent work is a sign of greater confidence in Made in Pakistan cars, especially regarding international quality standards.

Honda officials said the decision to continue exporting cars is reflective of improved production processes and that the company wants to use Pakistan as a global supply chain.

Honda is not alone. Other automakers are also seeking foreign markets. An example would be Toyota Indus' eventful July 2023, where it exported 50 units of Fortuner, Corolla Cross, and IMV models.

An additional example could be the same parallel timeframe where Changan Pakistan shipped 14 Oshan X7 SUVs to Kenya and Tanzania. More recently, Hyundai Nishat also entered the export race, sending Santa Fe Hybrid vehicles to Sri Lanka.

As Pakistan car exports gradually increase, analysts believe such moves could attract foreign investment and boost confidence in the local industry.
