Honor, the Chinese smartphone brand, has announced a partnership with Porsche Design, the German design studio, to create premium smart devices. The first product of this collaboration will be unveiled in January 2024 in China.

Legacy of Porsche Design

Porsche Design was founded by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the original designer of the legendary Porsche 911 sports car. The studio has a history of creating innovative and elegant products, such as watches, luggage, eyewear, and more.

Porsche Design has also worked with several smartphone makers in the past, such as BlackBerry and Huawei, to produce exclusive and luxurious devices. Some of the notable examples are the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981, the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design, and the Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design.

Future of Honor and Porsche Design

Honor, which was spun off from Huawei in 2020, has been striving to establish itself as an independent and innovative brand. The company has launched several flagship devices, such as the Honor Magic3 series and the Honor 50 series, that showcase its technological prowess and aesthetic appeal.

The partnership with Porsche Design is a significant step for Honor, as it signifies its ambition to enter the high-end market and compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung.

The first product of this collaboration is expected to be a smartphone, possibly a variant of the upcoming Honor Magic6 series, which is rumoured to launch in the first quarter of 2024.

Honor Magic6 Porsche Design

According to some leaked renders, the Honor Magic6 Porsche Design will feature a dual punch-hole display, a circular camera module, and a sleek metal frame. The device will also likely sport a Porsche Design logo and some exclusive software features.

Honor has not revealed any details about the specifications, pricing, or availability of the Honor Magic6 Porsche Design, but it has teased that the product will be “born for pioneers”. The company has also hinted that the collaboration with Porsche Design will extend beyond smartphones, and may include smart cars, smart homes, and smart wearables in the future.
