Honor X60 series confirmed to launch with satellite communication feature

Honor is set to unveil its new X60 series smartphones on October 16 in China, as a successor to Honor X50. However, just a week before the launch, the company revealed that the Honor X60 series will include satellite communication capabilities.

Taking to Weibo, Honor officials confirmed that the X60 series will support satellite communication and messaging. The feature will allow Honor X60 users to send and receive messages and enable emergency communication in areas with limited cellular network coverage.

Notably, the X60 flagship will be Honor’s first device of the X series to offer satellite connectivity. 

Additionally, the company also teased that the Honor X60 series will house an “Honor Qinghai Lake” battery, boasting a capacity of 6,600mAh that will offer two days of battery life on a single charge. 

This marks a significant upgrade from the 5,800mAh batteries found in the Honor X50 series. 

Honor X60 series specs

Earlier, rumours suggested that the Honor X60 series is expected to be equipped with a 6.8-inch full-HD+ display, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an FHD+ resolution. 

The Honor X60 is claimed to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7025 chipset. It is likely to feature 12GB of RAM, an additional 12GB of virtual RAM, and 256GB of onboard storage. The handset will run Android 14-based MagicOS 8. 

The Honor X60 is rumoured to sport a 108MP main rear camera sensor with an f/1.75 aperture. However, the selfie camera is expected to be boasted with an 8MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.
