Apple has confirmed that it will permanently close its Westfield Hornsby store in Sydney in October, which is a major development.

The tech giant said, in a statement shared with Australian tech news website EFTM (via Reddit), that the decision to not renew the lease is a part of a larger plan to increase its local retail presence.

Additionally, workers impacted by the closure will have the chance to move to Apple's Chatswood Chase location, which is currently undergoing renovations.

With a totally revamped layout, an Apple Pickup station for online orders, and a special space for Today at Apple events, the Chatswood Chase store is scheduled to reopen in October.

In less than two years, this closure represents at least the fifth Apple Store location to close permanently.

Stores in Northbrook, a Chicago suburb, and Bristol, England, have also closed recently.

Nonetheless, Apple is still growing its retail presence abroad, with new locations opening in China, South Korea, Malaysia, Spain, Sweden, and the US, among other nations.

Apple's recent move of its Perth location to a historic bank building in Australia highlights the company's dedication to creating cutting-edge retail experiences.

However, with six additional locations, Apple continues to have a significant presence in the Sydney area even after the Hornsby store closed.

Apple's continued presence in the area guarantees that customers will still have access to its goods and services, even though the closure may cause some customers some inconvenience.

Although Apple will no longer be operating the Hornsby store, which opened in 2011, its attention to other locations points to a strategic realignment of its retail priorities.
