Pakistan Railways has officially launched a cashless ticketing system that enables passengers to book train tickets online from the comfort of their homes.
According to reports, a historic digital agreement has been signed between Pakistan Railways and the National Police Foundation in Islamabad to modernise ticketing and payment systems in line with global standards.
Pakistan Railways officials have announced that the revenue collection process will be fully digitalised and that the State Bank of Pakistan and 1Link will be transferring ticket revenues to the national treasury three times per day.
More than 40 banks, linked with 1Link, will integrate the railway’s digital payment systems to enable secure and straightforward payment transactions for passengers across Pakistan.
How to book Pakistan Railways tickets online?
Pakistan Railways has moved to a cashless system, making online ticket purchases easy and secure. Here's how:
- To begin, you should visit the official Pakistan Railways website or download the latest version of the app.
- Enter the details on the trip, including departure and arrival stations, date of travel, travel class, and seat preference, and enter details of the passenger(s).
- Once you have selected your ticket, you will be guided to a secure payment page with several payment methods available to you.
- After you have completed your payment, you will see a confirmation digitally, and your mobile e-ticket will be sent to your phone or email. You can save or print your e-ticket prior to leaving on your journey.
Pakistan Railways online ticket payment methods
- Mobile banking apps: Pay straight through your bank app, or scan the QR code.
- Internet banking: Pay via internet banking through 40+ partner banks.
- Debit/credit card: put in your card details to make a transaction.
- QR code: scan the QR code displayed to permit payment.
- NADRA e-facility centres: You can go to an e-Sahulat or e-Khidmat Centre for digitally cashing your payment.
- Bank Branch: Or pay at a partner bank branch member, and your money will be recorded online.
