How to cancel YouTube TV subscription
First, the cancellation process is similar on both the mobile and web versions if you directly pay Google for access. Follow the steps to cancel:
- Open the YouTube TV website or app
- Tap or click on your profile photo
- Go to Settings (gear icon)
- Select Membership
- Choose Manage, then select Cancel Membership
- Confirm by clicking Cancel
After cancellation, the service's access to live YouTube TV will remain until the end of your current billing period. Recorded shows and movies will remain in your library for 21 days before deletion.
Google also retains your viewing preferences and limited details, such as your home ZIP code, to prevent fraud and facilitate reactivation if you choose to return.
Users whose subscription was set up through a mobile carrier or internet provider need to contact them directly to cancel.
How to pause YouTube TV subscription
Just in case you prefer not to cancel the service, YouTube TV also lets you pause payments for 4 to 26 weeks.
To pause, follow these steps:
- Open the YouTube TV app or website.
- Tap your profile photo.
- Go to Settings, then Membership
- Select Manage
- Use the slider to choose the pause duration
- Tap Pause to confirm
Bear in mind that your account remains active until the end of your current billing cycle, after which you won't be charged or have access until the pause ends.
Users can resume their YouTube TV subscription anytime during the pause, but once set, the pause cannot be extended, meaning you must wait until billing restarts.
