Hyundai Nishat unveiled the all-new, locally assembled 7th-generation Hyundai Elantra Hybrid at the Consumers Choice Awards in Karachi on Saturday, marking a significant milestone for both Hyundai and automotive enthusiasts in Pakistan.
Speaking to Gadinsider, at the sidelines of the event, Hyundai Nishat CEO Masaaki Yamada said: “The new Hyundai Elantra Hybrid represents a leap forward from its predecessor, which was a petrol variant. With this advanced hybrid model, drivers can expect improved fuel efficiency and an enhanced driving experience.”
Yamada further highlighted the vehicle’s design, noting: “The new Elantra Hybrid boasts a sleek, aerodynamic design, giving it a sportier, more modern look.”
Discussing interior features, Yamada emphasised that Hyundai Nishat prioritised safety in the new model, equipping it with numerous advanced safety features, including automatic parking sensors.
When asked about instalment plans, Yamada explained: “The specifics will depend on demand in Pakistan's automobile market, but our aim is to accommodate customer requests wherever possible.”

Meanwhile, in a conversation with Gadinsider about sales expectations for the Elantra Hybrid, Hyundai Nishat's Area Sales Manager (South) Hamza Noman Dar remarked: “The sedan market is particularly strong in Karachi, and in the current market scenario, the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid stands out as the leading model among completely built units (CBU). Additionally, in Pakistan, there is no other locally assembled hybrid sedan in the industry that offers the advanced features available in the Elantra.”
Dar further added: “The company aims to capture 50-60% of the market share, giving customers the chance to experience the smooth and impressive drive that the Elantra Hybrid offers.”
He also noted that offering instalment plans boosts sales by 30-50% compared to purchases without equated monthly instalments (EMI).
“Instalment plans enhance the car’s affordability for a diverse range of customers — whether salaried individuals, sole proprietors, or business owners — making it easier for them to lease the vehicles,” he said.
