In a significant development, Meta Platforms is reportedly planning to launch a new AI-powered smartwatch featuring dual cameras.
According to a report, the smartwatch could debut as early as September 2025 and will reportedly be designed to pair seamlessly with Meta’s AI glasses.
Originally codenamed Milan, the project was first revealed in 2021, featuring a curved display, a physical control button, and a front-facing camera.
After facing technical setbacks, the initiative was paused in June 2022. However, the development has recently been revived, with Meta now partnering with Chinese manufacturer Huaqin Technology to bring the device to market.
Meta’s new smartwatch will be integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) features, differentiating it from rivals like Samsung Galaxy watch and Apple watch.
Although Meta has not officially confirmed the launch, speculation suggests the smartwatch could be unveiled at the upcoming Meta Connect conference scheduled for September 17–18, 2025, in the United States.
The company, however, has yet to announce if the product will be showcased during the event.
The announcement coincides with Meta's ongoing investment in wearable technology, which aims to incorporate AI-powered features that improve user experience.
If the smartwatch delivers on its promise of innovation and seamless AI integration, it could significantly boost Meta’s presence in the increasingly competitive wearables market.
