Meta has recently shifted its focus from the celebrity AI chatbots that its users were running to interact with digital versions of the biggest celebrities, with the latest AI Studio, which will allow creators to build their own AI chatbot.

First, the tech giant came up with AI chatbots which were truly alternative personas of celebrities such as Charli D'Amelio, Dwyane Wade, and Paris Hilton. However, the company has now shut down those chatbots. This shift points to Meta's approach of power in the hands of creators to make their own Meta AI chatbots instead of handcrafted celebrity bots.

What is AI Studio

AI Studio allows creators to design and build AI chatbots and provides a unique opportunity for self-expression and innovation. Meta's decision to discontinue AI celebrity chatbots may be seen as a shift towards a more creator-centric approach.

According to the company's spokesperson Liz Sweeney, Meta learned good lessons when making AI celebrity chatbots, now applied in AI Studio. That evolution enables every user including the creators or celebrities, to build their own AI chatbots.

The Meta AI celebrity chatbots did not turn out as expected, but Meta still holds great expectations from the potential use cases that AI chatbots can provide.

Moreover, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has emphasised the importance of chatbots and the AI assistant has since been pushed through several platforms of services such as Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
