Minecraft has released a new surprise DLC, Aotearoa New Zealand, to celebrate the upcoming Minecraft film. The game is famous for its open-world sandbox gaming environment that enables users to build, explore, and create infinite virtual worlds.

The Aotearoa New Zealand DLC is Minecraft's first-ever destination expansion and is free to download. It was built in collaboration with Tourism New Zealand and Warner Bros. and allows players to explore breathtaking landscapes based on real-world destinations in New Zealand.

Some of the destinations include Waitomo Caves, Rotorua, Kapiti Island, Abel Tasman, Tekapo, and Doubtful Sound.

What to expect from Minecraft’s new Aotearoa New Zealand game?

Aside from getting to experience these stunning vistas, players can also engage in a new campaign where they become filmmakers. They will undertake various activities like paddling, exploring, four-wheel driving, bird watching, and experiencing geothermal activity while interacting with Non-Player Characters (NPCs).

One of the highlights of this DLC is the emphasis it places on New Zealand's environmental and cultural values. Players will get to learn about the indigenous Māori culture of the country, customary traditions, and exclusive wildlife.

Not only does this add richness to the game experience, but it also increases consciousness about the natural and cultural riches of New Zealand.

This expansion pack not only adds to Minecraft's creative potential but also familiarises players with New Zealand's natural splendour and culture. As part of the campaign, Mojang Studios is also urging players to organise an actual visit to New Zealand to see the landscapes and activities for themselves. The DLC's realistic representations of iconic landmarks may encourage fans to visit the actual sites.
