The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has declared dozens of online gambling, casino, and unauthorised forex trading apps illegal across Pakistan.
The agency stated that all 46 apps were declared illegal because they were found to not only facilitate gambling but also collect users' logging performance and mobile numbers without consent.
Notably, the banned apps include popular gambling and betting apps like Aviator Game, Chicken Road, 1xBet, Betway, Dafabet, 22Bet, Melbet, Parimatch, Bet365, Plinko, 10Cric, Rabona, Casumo, BetWinner, 888Starz, and Thunderpick.
There were several apps that provide unauthorised access to SIM and CNIC records that have also been banned, such as Sim Owner Details, Pak Sim Data, Sky Sim Data, and Sim Tracker, as they are a significant privacy risk.
Also, several unregulated forex and binary trading platforms have also been declared illegal, such as Binomo, IQ Option, Pocket Option, Deriv, Olymp Trade, OctaFX, and Quotex, as they posed a high risk of financial fraud.
The NCCIA has forwarded the list to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for immediate blocking of these applications nationwide. Officials further warned that strict action will be taken against the developers and promoters of such platforms.
