Nokia G42 5G is reportedly to receive an update for Android 14 in India, marking it as the first HMD Global phone in the country to get the latest Android OS.
The Android 14 update was introduced at the Google I/O event in May 2023, and initially, the Google Pixel 8 series received the update at its launch in October of the same year.
Also including the December 2023 security patch, the roll out of the Over-The-Air (OTA) update will also encompass other smartphone manufacturers as well, such as Samsung, OnePlus, and Xiaomi.

Gadgets360, citing sources, according to information from Nokia Power User, the Android 14 update for the Nokia G42 5G is currently being rolled out in India and a few other markets.
While the update has not been confirmed for all users, it's worth noting that updates are typically released in stages, and it may take some time for everyone in India to receive it. The rollout to other markets is expected in the coming weeks.
The update's total size is reported to be 2.68GB. Alongside Android 14, the update is said to bring additional vision and hearing-inclusive features to enhance the health features of the Nokia G42 5G.
Standard Android 14 features such as lock screen customisation, AI-generated wallpapers, and support for Ultra HDR images will be introduced to the Nokia G42 5G with this update.
The Nokia G605 5G and Nokia X30 5G are rumoured to be the next in line to receive the Android 14 update. HMD Global has not yet provided a comprehensive list of Nokia devices slated to receive the update.

The Nokia G42 5G features a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 480+ chipset, paired with up to 16GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The smartphone includes a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, it has an 8MP front camera. The device is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 20W wired charging support.
