Nothing Phone 2a to launch in India with enhancements over Phone 1

Nothing Phone 2a is set to debut in India, according to the UK brand, led by Carl Pei. While the exact launch date and specifications remain undisclosed, the brand is teasing the upcoming handset through an event page on its Indian website.

Nothing has previously introduced two phones – the Nothing Phone 1 and Nothing Phone 2. Positioned as a mid-range offering, the Phone 2a promises an upgrade over its predecessor, the Nothing Phone 1.

In a quarterly Community Update, Nothing announced the name of its next smartphone, the Phone 2a. The brand has established a landing page on its India website, inviting users to sign up for notifications with a 'coming soon' label.

While the landing page does not reveal extensive details about the Nothing Phone 2a, the company emphasises that it has been engineered to deliver an optimal daily smartphone experience, focusing on core user needs and incorporating Nothing's expertise and craftsmanship.

The device, codenamed Aerodactyl, is confirmed to leverage some features from last year's Nothing Phone 2 and promises an upgraded experience compared to the Nothing Phone 1.

According to previous leaks, the Nothing Phone 2a will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC and run on Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.5. The device is rumoured to feature a 6.7-inch full-HD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The camera setup is expected to include a dual rear camera system with a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor. Additionally, the phone may sport a 32-megapixel selfie camera, according to Gadgets360.

The Nothing Phone 2a is expected to be priced at EUR 400 (approximately INR 37,000) for the base variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It may also be available in a 12GB+256GB configuration and is likely to come in black and white colour options.

Nothing Phone 2a release schedule

Although the official launch date of the Nothing Phone 2a is yet to be confirmed, speculations suggest it might be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (2024) event in Barcelona.
